Freaky Dolls That Make You Go “WTF!”

I’d give my kids anything they’d like to play with as long as it’s safe, but this is really freaky.

The Crusty Toddlerpede

It’s created by artist Jon Beinart, who says:

In a similar vein to my drawings, I was creating larger forms from small segments. Toddlerpedes evolved over the years to imitate insects and mythological creatures. These days I am surrounded by them. They are my children, mini me’s that I find irresistibly cute. The Toddlerpede has demanded much more attention than my drawings. The popularity of my little friends has been a pleasant surprise.

As freaky as they may be, I kind of like them. I like freaky stuff like this!

Welcome To Nano-Blogging

It seems that the web and all these micro-blogging platforms are making sending messages easier, but at the same time, impose a limit on the number of words that can be used. Case in point, Twitter and Plurk.

Now comes something even more succinct - one word blogging, a.k.a nano-blogging, introduced by Adocu. It’s a microblogging service like Twitter, but you can only send one word, no spaces, dashes, underscores, etc., but there’s no limit to the number of letters you can use in your posts.

So it’ll come out like: thisisatestpostonadocu.

As if Twitter and Plurk aren’t confusing or overwhelming enough for some people, they have to come up with this?? I think I’ll pass.

Sex And The City Fans Should Not Go Here

Because Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse. Well, according to this site she does.

You know when you’re in the upper stratosphere of fame when a parody site says you look like a horse, it’s actually a tribute and is hugely popular on the internet.

And speaking of shit, this is what I call determination!

The Shit Box - Poo And Be Green!

What better way to be environmentally-friendly, as well as to rid your bowels of all that junk you’ve just had for lunch, than to poo in a reusable, portable toilet made out of cardboard?

The package comes with 10 bio-degradable poo bags and it’s perfect for outdoor activities like the Glastonbury Festival, picnics, camping and other activities where a toilet is …. well, the nearest bush.

I think it’s a very good idea, but I doubt clearing it and changing the poo bag will be much fun, even for someone like me with the experience of changing hundreds poo-sodden diapers. This product kind of reminds me of the old bucket toilets we used to have here in Singapore all those years ago.

Have Your Cake And Sleep On It

Have you ever loved your birthday cake so much, or that it looked so good you just feel it’s a waste to eat it? Well, now you can have your cake and go to bed with it.

No, not an actual cake, but a cake made to look like a pillow.

May your dreams be sugary sweet!

Cake not your thing? Maybe a pizza pillow would be better.

I Want My Pizza Hut On My Desktop!

Adobe AIR applications are all the rage these days. I’m a frequent user of Twhirl. Now Pizza Hut in the US, my favourite “dunno-what-to-eat-so-let’s-just-dial-2353535″ pizza restaurant, has introduced an online ordering desktop thingy called Pizza Hut Shortcut that’s powered by Adobe AIR. Very convenient, especially if you’re online most of the time.

I wonder if Pizza Hut in Singapore will introduce this. Ordering online certainly beats ordering over the phone, which is bitch during dinner time on weekends and public holidays. Surly, mumbling ‘minahs’ on the phone taking your orders more often than not will make you lose your patience (if not your appetite).

Small But Deadly Creatures

Any one of these insects and arachnids can cause severe pain, disease or death in their victims. My ‘favourite’ would be the bullet ant.

According to Wikipedia:

The pain caused by this insect’s sting is purported to be greater than that of any other Hymenopteran, and is ranked as the most painful according to the Schmidt Sting Pain Index. It is described as causing “waves of burning, throbbing, all-consuming pain that continues unabated for up to 24 hours”. In some indigenous communities, to enter manhood a boy has to endure being stung by the ant 5 times without screaming.

Wow! That must be a really ‘fun’ initiation process!

Masturbate-a-thon

Everyone knows masturbation is the safest form of sex, but when a former US Surgeon General tried to promote it, she was fired from her post.

As a form of protest, “a benefit to raise privates (haha!!) and private funds for community-based sex education and health organizations” (from The Frisky) called the Masturbate-a-thon was born.

This year it’s happening on May 25th in San Francisco.

If such a thing is organized here in Singapore, it’ll get banned even before the lubricants come out. Pffft!!

Us in Singapore can still take part at home and watch it ‘live’ via an online feed. Hehe!

Video-Sharing Site For Kids

Want a safe video-sharing website for your kids and toddlers? Afraid your child might stumble upon Two Girls, One Cup or be infected by a viral Rick-rolling video?

Totlol is the answer for you!

Totlol Screenshot 1

Totlol is a brand new community-moderated video website designed to be enjoyed by those between the ages of 6 months and 6 years.

I’m not too concerned with the smut on YouTube or other video sharing websites myself, but having a site specially catered for the young ones is great. They can watch all the Thomas and Friends they want and all uploads are moderated by the community of this site’s members, which you don’t get in a free-for-all (relatively) site like YouTube, which, by the way, powers Totlol.

This site might appeal to grown ups with a love for cartoons too!

Spot And Share Stuff On Celebrities Using The Coolest Products

Another celebrity gawking site, but this time with a twist. Coolspotters allows you to discover what brands and products your favourite celebrities use, share the info with other people and connect with other fans like yourself. Whether it’s a picture, a video or audio clip or just about anything, if you ’spot’ a celebrity with a particular product, associate the two and share it online.

A Spot is an association between two Profiles, and they are all created by YOU. See a photo of Jessica Simpson wearing her William Rast Stella Sure Fit Jeans? Spot it! Read an interview where David Beckham talks about his new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet? Spot it!

When browsing Profiles on Coolspotters, you can always create a new Spot. Just click on “Add New Spot” and we’ll take you through a quick and easy process that will help you create a new association for other users to discover. Whether you’re spotting a celebrity with a product they use, or a car in a movie, or a celebrity with another celebrity, you’re going to love how easy it is to create a new Spot!

I think this site is great for people obsessed with their favourite celebrities and would want to know what products they use. Good for advertisers and potential sponsors looking for a celebrity to endorse their products too.

Want to know what kind of candy Madonna munches on? You can probably find it on Coolspotters. And it works both ways too. Search for a product and the site will give you a list of celebrities associated with it. For example, according to the site, the Apple iPhone was spotted being used by 30 celebrities, like Orlando Bloom and David Duchovny, and was spotted on TV programs like Mythbusters and American Idol.

Pretty neat site! I love it!

BK Special Order: Whopper With Cheese And Sixty Slices Of Bacon

At an unknown Burger King outlet, a customer made a special request for a Whopper with cheese and sixty slices of bacon and he got it! I guess Burger King isn’t kidding when they say "Have it your way".

Someone wanna try that kind of request in Singapore? Sometimes getting an extra packet of chilli sauce is met with an incredulous stare from the counter staff, so good luck to the person brave enough to try it! :D

Lobster Catching Games

I’ve seen these catcher game machines at arcades where you manipulate a robotic arm to grab the toy of your choice, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a machine that lets you grab a live lobster.

Kind of a fun alternative to simply scooping them up with a net from the tank and straight to the pot at seafood restaurants.

Kidmondo Is Kool!

For busy (or lazy) parents who would like to keep an online journal of their kid’s progress through their early years, Kidmondo is just the thing for them (certainly a lot better than Multiply).

Kidmondo Screenshot

It has all the features that a great online journal should have (nothing beats an actual blog!), like the usual online diary and photo and video gallery (you can upload photos or videos from Flickr). But what I really like is the cute little growth and dental charts. No need to do crappy looking graphs to chart your kid’s growth. Just punch in a few numbers and viola! Great looking charts!

Not contented with charts? There’s even a medical and food journal to track the mind-boggling amount of medication and food that your child needs.

Kidmondo Tour Page Screenshot

It’s pretty cool, actually. I’d use it if I was still interested in charting every little detail of my kids’ progress. New parents out there might want to check it out.

Giant Man-Eating Moths Freak Me Out!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No …. it’s a giant moth!

I’m always fearful of such creatures, especially that big! It looks like it could swallow me whole! Yikes!!

Things That Make You Go “WTF!!”

I’ve seen more crap on the internet than I care to remember (Two Girls, One Cup, anyone?) but this picture is a good example of those times that I clicked on a link and went "WTF!!".

The "WTF" version of the picture is here (NSFW, obviously!). Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Performance Artist Defies Gravity By Floating In Mid-Air

142wok6.jpg

I have no idea how he does it, but trust me, this picture is not photoshopped. Johan Lorbeer, a German performance artist, hangs in the air by a building above everybody’s heads. Amazing!

More of his works on his website.
