Photography Equipment Porn - Nikon D700

It’s a top notch camera for amateurs like me. The Nikon D700 is basically a D300 but with a larger FX sensor found on the D3. Releasing late July for an estimated street price of about US$3000. Details here.

Limited Edition Sony Alpha 350 Camera

It has all the same features as the black Alpha 350, this white, silver and gold limited edition looks less ‘rugged’ than the original. I used to shoot with an ancient Nikon F55 which has about the same colours, but I get the feeling that SLR cameras that are not in the standard black don’t look as (to borrow Christian Siriano from Project Runway) ‘fierce’.

Still, the Sony Alpha 350 is still a great camera. I love the swivel LCD screen which you don’t get on other DSLRs.

Odd-looking camera with three lenses that will enable you to take a 3D picture.

Meriadoc Brandybuck Is One Fine Photographer

The multi-talented Dominic Monaghan, who played Meriadoc Brandybuck in the Lord of the Rings movies, is not only an actor, singer and composer, he’s also a good photographer.

His photgraphic exhibition, which includes some photos of his LOTR co-stars, is currently running in Hollywood.

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera

This camera is not only cute, it’s tough. You know how terrible kids can be with their toys. You buy it one day and before the day is out, it’s broken into a million pieces.

It has a 1.3MP sensor (which is better than some cameraphones) and a 64MB storage space.

Polaroid Instant Film No Longer In Production

The time of the Poloroid camera and film is coming to an end. All that flapping the newly ejected Poloroid picture from the camera will soon be a thing of the past as the company has stopped production of the Poloroid film for good.

Giant Telephoto Lens

They call it "the mother of all telephotos". The Canon 1200/5.6L USM super-telephoto lens is a rare beast with "more than twelve, less than twenty" of them sold. Why? It costs US$99,000, that’s why!

If you wanna clearly photograph something from a couple of miles away this would be the ideal lens for you. If you can afford it.

Iguana Posing Like Rock Star

Very cute pictures of iguanas, which I think are kind of creepy, being made to pose like a human, lounging or holding a guitar.

New! Sony Alpha 300 and 350

I just love the swivel LCD screen on SLRs. These two new cameras should appeal for the first-time SLR user, a mid-range camera between the 200 and the fantastic 700.

Lens Reviews On DPreview.com

The popular photography resource site, dpreview.com, which has long been THE site to go to for camera reviews has introduced (and it’s about time too!) a lens review section. Good news for photographers and consumers wanting to find out about the latest lenses.

Nikon Officially Unveils The D60 And New Range Of Nikkor Lenses

It’s officially out! The D60 from Nikon, an ‘upgrade’ to the D40x. There has been some negative reviews about this camera in photography forums but as with all Nikon cameras, a great piece of equipment is what you’ll get.

I Love Holga!

No, she’s not my new Russian bride but a camera. Anyone who knows photography will know Lomography and this plastic ‘toy-like’ camera is really fun!

Holga Unboxed 2/14

Colourful box containing the Holga. Boxes of film added for ‘dramatic’ effect. They don’t bundle the film with the camera, of course.

My new toy revealed! The Holga 135 35mm camera!

Holga Unboxed 6/14

No LCD screen here! Just a simple viewfinder.

Holga Unboxed 5/14

Simplicity in black.

Holga Unboxed 9/14

Aperture control by way of a simple sliding mechanism. A hot-shoe is available in which any regular flash system can be added (no built-in flash on the Holga).

Holga Unboxed 12/14

No need to worry about lens speed, aperture, etc. The lens has 4 simple settings for portait, small groups, large groups and landscape.

It’s been so long since I’ve used film! Film advance button by way of a wheel on the right. Forget to advance the film and you’ll get multiple exposures, which will give you very interesting results. Shutter speed is controlled when the shutter is held open for as long as you press the shutter release button.

Can’t wait to develop the film! Now, the only thing I have to do is to repair my printer/scanner, which somebody (looks at Ayeed) broke! :)

Amazing Birth Picture

Now why didn’t I think of that? What an incredible birth picture!
