The Heartbreak Of A Liverpool Fan On Twitter

It wasn’t meant to be. Liverpool lost 4-3 on aggregate to Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals and the highs and lows of the match were documented by this Twitterer.

From the elation when Fernando Torres equalized to send the match into extra-time, to the horror of a bad touch and penalty given away by Sami Hyypia in the first half of extra-time, to the glimmer of hope given by Babel’s thunder strike.

But it was too little, too late. There was no way back for Liverpool with only three minutes left and we lost the match.

With the loss, there is the inevitability of depression when the truth finally sinks in that my team wasn’t going to make it to the final, as I watched the match highlights and asked myself the questions …. “if only …. “.

After The Champions League Semi-Final

On a brighter note, the series of tweets during the match included my 1,000th tweet. A small milestone for me in the journey through Twitter-dom that started with my first tweet on April 15, 2007. So yay to me!

Small consolation for tonight’s loss, though.

Excuse me while I pick my crumbling, sobbing mess off the floor. Life as a Liverpool fan is so depressing right now.
