I got this in the mail the other day:
It’s the Singapore Police Service (used to be called Singapore Police FORCE, but I guess our country’s police got soft. No wonder a high profile terrorist could escape our ‘detention’ centre and still not be found yet.) Long Service and Good Conduct Award.
You’d think they would at least have a small ceremony or get a senior officer from my unit to hand it to me (and to the other guys who also got this medal) personally with a congratulatory word or two, but NOOOOO …..
They bloody shoved it in an A4 sized envelope, along with a letter with a COMPUTER-GENERATED SIGNATURE and freaking MAILED it to me!
So this is the thanks I get for serving my country? A useless medal, mailed to me along with a few hundred dollars ‘token’ money which I will receive when I ‘retire’ from National Service in 6 years’ time? Forget about the tax rebates and the swanky NS clubhouses which I hardly go to. You can keep it, Mr. Gahmen!
