Ajab Skipped School!!

Only his second week in school and he’s already skipped school. But it wasn’t Ajab’s fault. It was this fella’s:

Floppy Hair

Some time around 1am, Ayeed woke up crying, possibly because of a tummy ache, but we didn’t know about it till later. This was odd I thought then because neither of the boys ever wakes up in the middle of the night these days, unless it was because of some scary dream.

I was awakened by both the boys crying - Ajab because his sleep was disturbed by Ayeed. We tried to pacify Ayeed but he kept on crying and refused to be put back in his cot. All this while Ajab was told to remain in bed, which he did, staring at his brother and wondering what was wrong with him. It was only when I tried to lay him down on the mattress on the floor in hopes of patting him to sleep that I smelled the familiar stink of poo.

Off to the loo he went with Trin. After washing up, he still had difficulties sleeping, rolling and twisting about on the mattress beside me all through the night. Neither of us got much sleep in the end including Ajab who also had difficulty falling back to sleep. I woke up at 6.30am with a huge headache and an aching body. Ajab was still sleeping at that time. That’s when I decided that 1) I was too tired to accompany Ajab to school and 2) Ajab didn’t get enough sleep to last him through the morning should he go to school and we know how irritable and often hard to control Ajab can be when he hasn’t gotten enough sleep.

So, second week of school. One time not in class. Not bad. I think he’ll be like me when he’s older. Me as in the king of skipping classes. :D
