I like Aidiladha because there’s none of the emotional baggage that accompanies Aidilfitri - blame it on the elders’ insistence on the ’seeking forgiveness’ routine that’s full of tears that leaves me emotionally drained (part of the reason why I hate celebrating Aidilfitri so much). A useless Javanese tradition.
During Aidiladha, it’s just family. food and a good time. I didn’t even bother dressing up. Just another day at my grandma’s. No fuss. Just hanging out, pigging out and spacing out.
Roast turkey (from Delifrance) and salad, anyone? How very yummy and non-traditional!
