It’s another day at the hospital for Trin and Maya, and the first thing I saw upon entering the room today was this archaic-looking contraption:
An ancient breast-pump from the Middle Ages!! Cool!
It’s the first time I’ve seen this device, an electric breast-pump this big and noisy, with the yellow mechanical pump part moving like a piston in some steam-engine train. Somehow images of medieval torture devices came to mind.
But seriously, expressing has been good so far for Trin, although there’s a break in the nursing schedule tonight. With Maya having to stay under observation for another day, we have instructed the nurses to feed her with formula (*gasp!!*) tonight because it’s just impractical for Trin to travel back to the hospital from our home to nurse Maya (the expressed milk isn’t sufficient to last the night).
Maya to her credit is a lot more regular in her milk needs - crying out for milk about once every three hours, feeding for about an hour each time - compared to Ayeed who had to be nursed almost ALL THE TIME it seems.
The princess hasn’t returned, but the prince (Ayeed) sure has. And in a big way too, bossing about the house, wasting no time in pulling Ajab’s hair. Tonight is the first night on his road to sleep rehabilitation, having slept at his grandparents since Tuesday. It is also the first night we’re making him sleep in his own cot again. I think he’s had more than enough of my side of the bed. It’s about time Daddy reclaimed his rightful place! Ayeed HAS to learn to sleep with Ajab in their room. No more co-sleeping! It’s Maya’s turn now.
